Working in tandem with the Starbucks Company, myself and my team developed a new take on the iconic coffee brand. The design was inspired by the iconic Chicago ‘L’ train as it was located in the bustling pedestrian walkways between the Red and Blue line stations in the lower level of the Block 37 Shopping center. The design team was able to put a new spin on the classic Starbucks cafe that is sleek and modern, providing a uniquely Chicago experience for the daily commuters as well as the first time visitors. I led the team and the client through several challenges on this project from fitting a standard program into a uniquely shaped tenant space to navigating alternate solutions for running utilities to avoid penetrating the slab into the train tunnel located below.
